"The Garden of the Hesperides"

In Greek mythology, the Garden of the Hesperides is a sacred, hidden place where golden fruit grows—some say apples, others say oranges. These magical fruits were gifted to Hera on her wedding day, and eating them granted immortality.

The garden is guarded by the Hesperides, nymphs of the evening and daughters of the West. They protect this garden alongside a dragon, keeping its treasures safe from the mortal world.

I was drawn to this myth because of its symbolism: a garden filled with beauty, mystery, and the eternal. In my painting, I imagined the garden as an ethereal, dreamlike space where the golden fruit glows amidst the clouds, protected by the Hesperides.

To me, this story reflects the longing for something precious and out of reach—an idea that feels so personal in art and life.

"Helios amongst the Clouds"

Introducing my latest painting, inspired by Helios from Greek mythology. Helios is the personification of the sun, often depicted as a radiant figure traveling across the sky in his chariot pulled by horses. Each day, he would rise in the east, guiding his chariot through the sky and bringing light to the world, before setting in the west by dusk.

In this piece, I’ve aimed to capture Helios’s journey through layers clouds, using soft, muted colors to create a sense of movement, as if he’s emerging from the haze to illuminate the world below.

This painting is part of my collection inspired by Greek mythology, where each piece tells a story.

In Greek mythology, Daedalus, a mythical inventor, created wings made of feathers and wax to escape from Crete, where he and his son, Icarus, were held captive by King Minos. To ensure their safety during their flight, Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too high, where the sun would melt the wax, nor too low, where the sea's moisture could weigh him down.

Overcome by the excitement of flight and the sense of freedom, Icarus ignored his father's warnings. He flew higher and higher, reveling in the joy of his ascent, until the sun's heat melted the wax in his wings and he fell into the sea.

In my latest painting, I wanted to capture Icarus in flight, embodying that spirit of hope, freedom and ambition as he flies through the clouds. The soft hues and ethereal atmosphere reflect the beauty of his aspirations and his bittersweet story.

The softness and lightness of the cloud in Nimbus give a sense of floating, free from the pull of the earth. This reflects that freedom isn’t just about physical space but also about our minds and emotions—a release from everyday pressures and routines.
